Mission
Statement
This
is a site meant to employ a new business model for indie developers. I
didn't want to sell my games, because my goal isn't wealth, it's that
as many people as possible can play my games - but making a living is
important, and for political and idealist reasons, I do not like
advertising. I tried to find another business model, and one stuck out.
Instead of forcing you to pay to play my games, I will use the model of
the street performer - I ask for donations if you think the games are
good. Because my model is the same as the street performer, I call my
site the Streetcorner Arcade. No, there are no drugs. Sorry.
The site consists of small games played on the browser with Java
applets. (For troubles playing them, see Troubleshooting) The games
range from a minute worth of time to five or so. I'll be rotating them
often, to keep my arcade fresh. Every week or so there'll be a new
small game, and I'll take into account what people seem to enjoy the
most.
Donating
My donation policy is simple. If you've got a paypal or a credit card
and you have a few cents you're willing to part with, I'd like you to
take the time to donate. Nickels, dimes, and maybe quarters are all I
ask. If you're computer illiterate, don't feel guilty about refraining
from donation, and play my games anyway. If you think the games are
terrible, don't donate either.
Each game has its own Paypal link. Donate for the games you like the
most, because it's how I can tell if you like them or not. If a game
doesn't seem to be liked particularly much, then it'll be the first to
be taken down to make way for a new game.
Some may be confused by my donation policy - for the PayPal familiar,
it's well-known that PayPal's usual donation policy is to remove a
small percentage plus thirty cents from each donation, and I'd be
losing money. However, PayPal offers a premium account with a flat
monthly rate, not a transfer rate - this way, I'm paying for my account
directly, and all the money donated is money I receive. That's why I
can accept such small donations.
Troubleshooting
My games are Java applets. This means several things - Internet
Explorer will usually ask you if you want to run them, and will require
that you click on them to confirm.
There is a common error with applets - you see a red x where the game
should be. This is because you don't have the proper JRE installed.
Don't fear! The install is only a few minutes and not very hefty in
filesize. I recommend installing the JRE from the following link,
because the install is fast and the instructions work.

Having any other problems? Well, my current nonexistant fanbase means
that I'm pretty capable of troubleshooting with you on a personal
basis. I'm just glad you care enough about my games to try! E-mail me
at:
clumsyfaunis <at> gmail <dot> com. The at is @ and the dot
is . , but if I put my full e-mail on the site, nasty spamfolk would
ask me if I want Viagra. (I don't)
